Rachel Erny

Ed and Rachel Erny began serving with One Mission Society in 1958 and served in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and the United States. During their 22 years in Taiwan, Ed and Rachel taught in the seminary, helped plant churches and pioneered the English evangelism outreach. During this time, they directed a daily nationwide radio ministry with weekly follow-up services in five cities. In the Philippines, they served for six years on the faculty of Faith Bible College in Manila.

When the Ernys returned to the U.S. from Taiwan in 1985 on home ministry assignment, Ed was elected president of OMS and held that position until 1991. The following four years they served as OMS mission representatives on the campuses of Asbury College and Asbury Theological Seminary. When they returned to Greenwood, they started an outreach to Chinese restaurant workers in the local area through English language instruction. Ed went to be with the Lord in October 2013.

Both Ed and Rachel graduated from Asbury College. Ed also held master’s degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary and the University of California at Los Angeles. In 1987, Asbury College conferred upon him a doctor of laws degree. Ed authored more than 20 books, including No Guarantee but God, Under Sentence of Death, Legacies of Faith, and The Story Behind Streams in the Desert. His biography will be published in the spring of 2015

The Ernys have three married children—Sharon, Scott and Stuart—and eight grandchildren.
