Digital Bible Resource Facilitator
You will work to fulfill Jesus’ command to make disciples and the Village Church Planting (VCP) vision of a church in every African Village by 2050, by digitally extending the Word of God, and other resources strongly grounded in the Bible, to African villages and villagers who would not otherwise have access to the Bible and Bible-based ministry tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities-
- Pray diligently for the fulfillment of the VCP 2050 vision.
- Develop a growing understanding of the discipleship opportunities and challenges found in African villages.
- Provide digital tools that facilitate the multiplication of disciples through the VCP ministry in African villages.
- In collaboration with VCP leaders named by the VCP Director, identify and curate digital Bible resources for Android smart devices and feature phones including, but not limited to the Jesus Film, Global Recordings Bible Stories. Bible.is, Faith Comes by Hearing, 5 Fish, Story Runners, Etc.
- Organize (by country and by language) curated digital Bible resources on a shared space such as Google Drive.
- Promote and simplify the user experience for accessing and downloading curated digital Bible resources.
- Research, deploy, publicize and promotes simple digital delivery systems for curated resources. Systems should function with minimal or no internet access and empower ordinary church members to use their smart phones and\or feature phones.to distribute digital Bible resources to acquaintances, friends, family and disciples.
- Train, VCP Coordinators and their Digital Bible specialists to deploy, and publicize simple digital delivery systems using a Model, Assist, Watch and Leave training approach.
- Maintain dialog with digital Bible specialists in order to support them in prayer, learn from their experiences and coach them to find solutions to overcome barriers.
- Research, develop and deploy digital Bible solutions that are well adapted theologically, culturally, and technologically to reaching Muslims with the Good News.
- Collaborate with OMS Publishing and VCP Supervisors to coordinate as much as possible the distribution of Digital Bible resources with digital New VCP materials.
- Supervises and collaborates with a Digital Bible Resource Assistant, delegating part or all of any of his responsibilities as gifting, travel, and need allow and require.
- Other responsibilities as delegated by supervisor.
Education and Skills-
- Bachelor’s degree in missions, Bible, adult education, and/or other related fields is ideal.
- Demonstrates skill with Bible apps.
- Able to quickly learn and master Android and feature phone settings, file management apps, and operations.
- Competent in the use of cloud-based storage and retrieval systems.
- Demonstrates ability to work and communicate effectively in cross cultural situations and through the use of translators, both digital and human.
- Very comfortable helping non-digital natives learn to use and master digital tools to fulfill the Great Commission.
- Comfortable working both behind the scenes as well as up front in training and vision casting situations.
This is a support-based position that involves raising financial support through ministry partners for salary and other expenses.
