Asia Pacific Regional Theological Education Coordinator

Be a champion for Theological Education (TE) in the Asia Pacific region (excluding India), by supporting and equipping the OMS-partner schools, national partners and missionaries in the region. The primary goal is to support the theological education needs of One Mission Society (OMS) fields in the region. This will be done under the supervision of the Regional Director and in close cooperation with the OMS Director of Theological Education, Field leaders and other ministry leaders, who are responsible for directing the ministry on the fields and in support of the OMS-partner schools in the region. This role would be an itinerant role, that is ideally based in Asia Pacific regional hub, but not essential.

  • South Asia 
  • South Korea
  • South Pacific
  • Thailand
  • Taiwan
Responsibilities- 
  • Work closely under the supervision of the director of Theological Education and the Regional Directors for Asia Pacific to determine how best to support the work of TE in the region.
  • Work closely with Field leaders in the region in order to support the TE needs of schools, national partners and missionaries in their fields.
  • Keep up to date with the current needs, challenges and opportunities of each OMS partner school in the region.
  • Visit each school on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate the provision of ongoing coaching with the leaders of OMS partner schools in relation to administrative, faculty, curriculum and infrastructure development.
  • Coordinate with the TE department, regional and field leaders and other OMS departments and external ministry partners, to assist OMS partner schools in accessing the best available resources for teaching, governance, and other areas of development.
  • Teach at partner schools as needed, and be well prepared to teach in a way that is culturally appropriate for leaders ministering in global church contexts.
  • Assist schools to become self-supporting and self-governing within their culture and denominational structure. 
  • Encourage schools to stay committed to the Wesleyan ethos and heritage of OMS.
  • Assist national administration, faculty and students in pursuing further training and advanced degrees, as needed.
  • Serve as an advocate and prayer champion for OMS partner schools in the region, keeping their needs before the larger OMS community.
  • Support national partners in evaluating training needs and assist them in accessing further training and education.
  • Provide Theological Education coaching, support, teaching and training opportunities to OMS missionaries in the region.
  • Serve as an advocate and champion for TE to OMS missionaries in the region.
  • Perform other duties as required by mutual discussion with the supervisor.
Skills and Education-
  • MA or MDiv required.
  • Earned Doctorate in an area of Theology preferred.
  • Cross-cultural ministry experience, preferably in Asia Pacific.
  • Sound biblical doctrine and commitment to Wesleyan Holiness theology, in conformity with the Articles of Faith of One Mission Society.
  • Experience in classroom teaching, and preferably experience in university or seminary administrative work.
  • Pastoral experience.
  • Administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to relate well to national and missionary leaders.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to define and analyze issues, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Facility with one local language in region, or commitment to acquire competency in one language is preferred.
This is a support-based position that involves raising financial support through ministry partners for salary and other expenses.
