Randy and Shelley Marshall

Randy and Shelley Marshall serve with One Mission Society in Kiev, Ukraine. They organize evangelistic English camps during the summer for university students and then provide follow-up English clubs or worshiping home groups called life groups for those who accept the Lord or who become strong seekers. Their goal is to establish a network of worshiping home groups across Kiev as students begin to reach their friends and families with the Good News. The goal is to bring the life groups together for celebration worship at least once a month.

Randy and Shelley met in a Christian singing group during their college years. Randy was studying to be a journalist and Shelley a music teacher. Randy worked five years as a newspaper reporter and Shelley two years as an elementary music teacher before both were called to serve in Russia with OMS as part of the cooperative organization called CoMission. The Marshalls have three sons: Alex, Andrew, and Philip. Randy has completed his master of divinity degree through Asbury Theological Seminary.

Before moving to Ukraine in 2003, Randy and Shelley served seven years in Yaroslavl, Russia. The first three years, the Marshalls worked with the CoMission and taught Christian ethics and morals to Russian public school teachers and established Bible study groups with new believers. Then for four years, Randy was a coordinator for OMS in Russia, helping Russian believers organize new churches in both former CoMission cities and in new locations. Randy organized training for the Russian teams, plus regularly visited them to encourage them and to keep them accountable.

Unfortunately, in November 2002, Randy and Shelley’s visas were taken by the Russian government without explanation. Possibly it was part of a crackdown on foreign missionaries, or at least on foreigners. In May 2003, God led them to the former Soviet Republic of Ukraine.
