Bill and Joyce Oden

After pastoring for nearly 20 years in the U.S., Bill and Joyce sensed God’s call to missions and became a part of One Mission Society in 1977. They served as the Northwest regional directors until January 1983 when they transferred to the Philippines to help pioneer the OMS work. The Odens ministered in the Philippines until 2000. During that time, they helped plant a church that grew to a weekly attendance of 1,200. In addition, they were a part of planting another 15 churches. Bill and Joyce also had the joy of participating in the formation of Faith Bible College, where Bill served as the president. He and Joyce also taught in the college. They consider these years of ministry to be extremely rich and rewarding. In 2000, they led the missionary team to Ireland to begin a new OMS ministry. They also spent one year in Hungary. From 2005 until 2010 Bill served as regional director for the OMS Asia/Pacific countries, serving as the liaison between the leadership of the countries and the OMS World Headquarters. The Odens began serving at the World Headquarters in January 2010. Bill serves as the director of Missionary Services and is the primary Greenwood-based contact person for all missionaries who are either on home assignment or are candidates. In this role, he provides services to the missionaries in the area of administration, pastoral care, funding assistance and accountability. Joyce serves as the director of the Hope 61 Anti-Human Trafficking ministry of One Mission Society. She seeks to heighten awareness regarding the vast issues related to human trafficking and modern-day slavery. OMS will work in partnership with World Hope International. Joyce is raising finances to send their trainers into countries where OMS ministers. The goal is to equip nationals to bring awareness that produces change of abusive cultural issues such as trafficking and slavery among their own people groups. The Odens have three grown children, six grandchildren and two great-grandsons. One Mission Society is an evangelical, interdenominational faith mission that makes disciples of Jesus Christ through intentional evangelism, planting churches and training national leaders in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and Latin America. OMS then joins with those churches in global partnerships to reach the rest of the world.
