Josh and Jessica Williamson
Josh and Jessica Williamson have served as the directors of student ministry for One Mission Society at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, since 2015. Upon completing their term there in the spring of 2017, they will move to Taiwan, where they will partner with local churches to equip Taiwanese Christians to participate in orphan care and advocacy. They will also promote high quality care and opportunities for uniquely-abled children.
Josh, a fourth-generation missionary kid, was born and raised in Taiwan. He recognized a calling early on to serve the Lord in Asia, and God expanded upon Josh’s understanding of that calling during his time studying at Asbury University. Josh graduated from Asbury in the summer of 2016 with a degree in youth ministry. Josh plans to use this degree to encourage spiritual growth of children and youth in Taiwan and to work with the Taiwanese church to engage young people in a way that will encourage them to seek God’s will for their lives.
Jessica is originally from Georgia and, like Josh, knew from an early age that she was called to serve the Lord in Asia. After taking multiple vision trips to Asia, Jessica was specifically moved to share Jesus’ love with orphaned and vulnerable children and the families they come from. Jessica graduated with her bachelor of social work degree from Asbury in December of 2015. She will use her social work background to help mobilize Taiwanese Christians to care for orphans and advocate for their well-being across Taiwan.
Josh and Jessica met and began dating during their first year of study at Asbury. While attending OMS’ OneWeekend retreat in 2013, the Lord led them to serve him with One Mission Society. Josh and Jessica were married on June 10, 2014, and began the application process with OMS shortly afterward. They assumed the role of assistant directors of student ministry for OMS at Asbury University in March of 2015 and plan to serve in this capacity until they leave for Taiwan in 2017. Josh and Jessica celebrated the birth of their first child, Hosanna Lynn, on November 12, 2015.
