Jim and Karen Hogrefe
Jim is the associate director of church multiplication within Every Community for Christ (ECC), the church multiplication ministry of One Mission Society. He is a member of the ECC leadership team that develops strategy and coordinates church planting in more than 50 countries. He also has specific responsibilities for the work in India and Europe.
Karen retired in 2017 from the Training & Development Department, but she continues to serve as a volunteer on prayer teams and coordinating dialogue education training.
Jim left a 30-year career in engineering, corporate finance, and management consulting to join OMS in 1996. After serving for two years in Russia with the CoMission project, he moved back to Texas as the OMS south regional director, then moved to OMS World Headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana, as the director of Recruitment before transferring to ECC in 2007.
Karen (Chalfant) Hogrefe was an elementary teacher in Pennsylvania when she joined OMS in 1995 to serve for two years with the CoMission project in Tallinn, Estonia. Karen met Jim while they both served with CoMission, and they were married in 1999. Since then, Karen has served alongside Jim in the south region, led short-term mission trips to various countries, and participated in training and prayer teams. She has also served in the children’s mission resources ministry (now One Mission Kids) and the Training & Development Department.
Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Lehigh University (PA) and completed a master’s in biblical studies from the Houston Graduate School of Theology in 2000. Karen holds a bachelor’s in elementary education and a master’s in science education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. The Hogrefes have two married children and six grandchildren.
