Bette Crouse

As an effective team, J.B. and Bette Crouse gave leadership for One Mission Society in Korea from 1959–1992. In January 1992, the Board of Trustees elected J.B. as the eighth president of OMS, and he served in that position until 2004.

Bette Crouse, who holds an honorary doctorate, is a graduate of Asbury College and earned a master’s of nursing degree from Yale University. She has been a professor at Yonsei University College of Nursing in Seoul. The curriculum and resource materials she developed there present nursing from a Christian perspective—training students to meet both physical and spiritual needs of patients. She is an effective Bible teacher and speaker and has been widely scheduled for meetings around the world. Bette prepared and presented a course on Christian Marriage and Family, which was broadcast on a Christian radio station in Korea, both in English and in Korean. She also taught a Bible study on Creative Christian Womanhood. As an accomplished pianist, she often accompanied her husband’s vocal solos in their music ministry. Recognizing her outstanding leadership gifts, the OMS board gave Mrs. Crouse the official title of assistant to the President. Bette also served on the training committee and was vice chairman of the executive prayer committee for the CoMission.

J.B. went to be with the Lord in June 2014. He was a graduate of Asbury College (now Asbury University) and Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. In addition to his faithful service to OMS in Korea and as President, J.B. was also a member of the executive committee of the CoMission.

The Crouses have three sons who grew up in Korea and graduated from Asbury College. They also have 10 grandchildren.
