The Harvest is Plentiful

As part of his ministry, a farmer in Southeast Asia told stories from the Bible to a group of children. At the end of his talk, he asked the group who they would repeat this story to over the next week.

The group sat quietly, as children often do when they are asked a question. One little girl broke the silence saying, “I will tell my grandfather this week.”

Although she was not yet a believer, she told her grandfather the story of Noah. She chose this story because he was old like Noah.

This grandfather and his entire family worshiped idols, having many statues in their own home. When he heard about Noah from his granddaughter, he wanted to hear more.

He and his wife arranged for a local pastor to come to their home and share more stories and provide explanations to these stories.

Calling all of his friends and family together, this man asked the pastor to tell them the stories about his newfound faith. In the middle of these stories, the grandfather interrupted and asked everyone present, “Will you follow this God that we are being told about, or will you continue to follow the gods of our past?”

Like a story from the early church found in the book of Acts, the Holy Spirit moved in this family’s hearts, and they all believed.

God is working through the young and the old around the world, but the workers can get tired and discouraged.

Please pray for all of the harvesters around the world, as they help to bring people to know Christ as their Savior. Pray that they will continue to have the strength and desire to carry on in this ultimate task.
