A Huge Thank You Shout Out
Giving thanks is a universal relational principle. It is the right response to the Lord as well as to others. It is right to give thanks and praise to the Lord. As a partner in the ministries of One Mission Society you may wonder, “Did they appreciate what we gave?” Did it make a difference?” We are truly grateful to you and you ARE making a difference around the nations. You are helping to touch and change lives.
The late prophetic musician Keith Green said, “This generation of Christians is responsible for this generation of souls on earth.” Through all OMS ministries this last year, we anticipate more than a million new decisions for Christ and thousands of new churches planted. Without you this would not happen! You, our churches and individuals, are a valuable partner. Yes, your prayers and donations are appreciated.
Thank you for your partnership in the greatest cause that matters.
As we remember the goodness of God this Christmas season and the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, we cannot help but respond in thanks and love ourselves. We are grateful, Lord Jesus, that your story has become our story, and we celebrate your birth. This Christmas, may the Lord help each of us develop an attitude of gratitude, expressed in thoughtful, personal ways to others.
“The giving of gifts is not something man invented. God started the giving spree when he gave a gift beyond words, the unspeakable gift of His Son.” ― Robert Flatt

A Christmas Poem by the Longs
A Christmas poem (to be read to the tune of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas) from our One Mission Society President and first lady, David and Lori Long...shared at our HQ Christmas party:
’Twas Weeks Before Christmas
’Twas weeks before Christmas, and all through our place,
Every creature was stirring at a crazy pace.
There was so much to do, there were projects galore,
Scads of countries to reach – there was no time to snore!
As we looked at our list that we’d only begun,
We wondered, ‘How will these projects get done?’
Articles for Outreach need to be written,
Then sent from headquarters to Canada & Britain.
There are nationals to shepherd and pastors to train,
Students to fund, churches to sustain.
Reaching the young, middle-aged, and retired,
So much time and preparation is required.
Work teams, prayer teams, evangelism too,
During these times, hearts for nationals grew.
We have missionaries to train, fund, and mobilize,
Can we please take a break to socialize?
Prayer letters, receipt letters, year-end, and more,
The mail room is full from ceiling to floor!
Year-end donations are flooding in
In response, many thank yous, hallelujahs, and an amen!
There were needs overseas in so many nations,
We needed to go and establish good relations.
But how could all of this ever get done?
So, we bowed our heads and asked God’s Son.
Then out of our prayers, there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our offices to see what was the matter.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But volunteers and partners, who said, “Don’t you fear,
We’ll help by working closely with you,”
And headquarters staff worked tirelessly too.
So this little poem is to simply to say thanks,
To all in our One Mission Society ranks.
As we end these last months, as your first lady and pres,
We have undoubtedly, by you, been abundantly blessed.
We’re grateful, we love you, and we simply must say,
‘We couldn’t have done it without you, in any way!’

Philippines Typhoon Disaster...One Month Later
It's been only a month since the tragic typhoon hit the Asia Pacific region, especially the Philippines, yet we hear very little, if anything, in the news about what is happening there today. OMS continues to work strategically with our national partners there, along with sending an OMS missionary who lives in the region to coordinate the efforts, and soon, we hope to send teams to help.
Relief funds are still desperately needed. This is how you can help today. Send your donation to One Mission Society, a ministry you know and trust. We have set up account #408056 ― Asia Pacific Typhoon Relief fund to receive donations. OMS will distribute funds to our regional partners and ministries as funds become available.
To give online, go to http://www.onemissionsociety.org/give/express-give and use account #408056 in the project box, or send a check to One Mission Society, P.O. Box 1648, Monument, CO 80132-1648, and on the memo line put “#408056 ― Asia Pacific Typhoon Relief.”
Thank you in advance for your support through finances and prayers for the victims, missionaries, and ministries in this region.
Here is a personal account from OMS missionary Kim Burdick, who served in the Philippines for many years with OMS, who has corresponded with a Filipino friend deeply affected:
Marites (Tes) Marcelino (pictured from a few years ago, seated in the middle, along with OMS missionaries Keith and Judy Kennedy and Brent Burdick, with other Faith Fellowship members) is an active member of Faith Fellowship Aurora (an OMS-related church) and works at a local bank in Manila. She is from Mohon Tanauan Leyte in the Philippines, one of the hardest hit areas from Typhoon Haiyan, located south of Tacloban City on the coast. Tes lost 100 members of her family in the typhoon, but she said she wanted to focus on those who lived.
When I wrote to let her know that we were praying for her, she replied, "Thank you so much Ate Kim... I still believe that God is in control inspite of what happened..."
According to what mutual friends told me, she had been waiting for almost two weeks for any news from her family, due to the phone lines being down. Eventually, her mother and two other family members were evacuated to Manila and found Tes. They shared the news of what had happened to much of their family clan.
Please pray for Tes and her family. Here are a few specific requests from Tes for those affected:
1. First of all, for them to know God in their lives personally. 2. Rebuild their shelter/house 3. Source of income. Most of them are farmers and fishermen 4. Recovery from trauma, especially for my nieces/nephews whose parents were killed. 5. Some of my cousins are still missing.

Matching Grant Challenge for Radio 4VEH
A letter from Rev. Storly Michel, Station Director, Radio 4VEH:
I'm excited to tell you of a tremendous opportunity to double your impact in Haiti through our Christmas Matching Gift Challenge that we're launching today.
A generous donor has pledged to match every donation given to Radio 4VEH broadcasting during December, dollar-for-dollar, up to a total pledge of $40,000. This means your donation during December is doubled to produce and broadcast twice as many life-changing radio programs to impact people in Haiti.
Click here to make your donation to Radio 4VEH Broadcasting # 469960 by credit card today through One Mission Society.
Your support of Radio 4VEH is a lifeline of hope. Your support will help keep Radio 4VEH on the air as a lifeline to people across Haiti-whether they are facing life-and-death situations, seeking answers to questions of faith, or just battling through the challenges of everyday life.
Your donation today will help produce and broadcast life-changing radio programs in Haitian Creole and French, including Bible teaching, worship music, news, weather warnings, farming advice, and life-saving messages like, "Wash your hands to prevent deadly cholera."
Thanks to our Christmas Matching Gift Challenge, your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to a total match of $40,000. This means, as the Lord enables you, your donation of $50 to sponsor one hour of broadcasting will become $100 to cover two hours of life-changing broadcasts. If you're able, your gift of $1,200 to sponsor one whole day of broadcasting becomes $2,400 to cover two days of radio programs.
Please help us meet this Matching Gift Challenge by making your donation today. Your gift by mail or given online by Dec. 31, 2013 will be doubled as part of the Matching Gift Challenge.
By God's grace, and with your help, we hope to raise $40,000 by Dec. 31, 2013, to receive the full amount of this generous matching gift. Please pray and give as generous a gift as you can to change people's lives in Haiti.
Thank you so much!
May the Lord bless you as you celebrate His coming this Christmas season,
Rev. Storly Michel, Station Director, Radio 4VEH

After the Show: One Mission Stories - Valetta Steel Crumley
We hope you enjoyed Sunday night's (Dec. 8) One Mission Stories, OMS' radio program, featuring Valetta Steel Crumley, retired OMS missionary, yet continues to serve full-time through the OMS book ministry, writing, discipling and mentoring young missionary women, coaching new candidates in funding, and speaking on behalf of OMS at many churches and retreats. Valetta has served OMS for 54 years!
Here are our "After the Show" resources to better connect you with things you heard about on the program last night.
Valetta shared her incredible testimony, that is very Job-like. She has endured GREAT loss in her life and experienced the deepest grief possible. Yet, her life and testimony, shared in several books available on Amazon, and in brief in this radio interview, will inspire and encourage you to fully grasp this verse: "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" --Romans 8:31.
All books mentioned on this broadcast can be purchased through our OMS store on Amazon or by calling the OMS World HQ. Call or email Barb Sandoz at 317.888.3333, ext. 313, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Here is what Valetta talked about: Another Valley, Another Victory, Another Love, by Valetta about her tragic but inspiring journey; Steel Valleys, by Shirley Carlson, a book based on Another Valley, but written for children; and Streams in the Desert, by OMS cofounder, Lettie Cowman, in which she writes, "Praise changes things."
You can also purchase Mission Accomplished Under Sentence of Death, by OMS missionary Ed Erny about the life of Valetta's first husband, Henry Steel, and his battle with cancer.
You may also be interested in buying a book by Campus Crusade founder Bill Bright. Valetta mentions this book, How to Know God's Will Through the Sound Mind Principles. He quotes, "With your thinking, considering your skills, ability, and life situation, where can you reach and help the most people find Jesus."
