OMS Wall of Prayer

Intentional prayer for the future By Richard McLeish, Director OMS World Intercessors As I look back over the history of OMS, I am always amazed how God has used this organization for His glory around the world. Ordinary people, surrendered to His call on their lives, used by Him to move His kingdom forward in every part of the world. How does that happen? Wherever you see a movement of God, you can be assured that there are always at least a faithful few holding up the people on the front lines in prayer. From the early days of Cowman and Kilbourne in Japan, to the harvest fields of India and Asia, to the marvelous present-day movement of God in Africa, prayer has been the foundation and power of all God has accomplished. And prayer will continue to be the foundation as OMS moves forward in the days ahead.
We have always had many people praying for our field missionaries as they have ministered around the world. And we continue to promote prayer groups, focusing on our field missionaries through the Weekly Prayer Sheet, the Every Community for Christ prayer tools and the Men for Missions Prayer Initiative. However, in these challenging times, we have really felt the need to add concentrated prayer for our OMS headquarters. This emphasis will focus on the leadership staff, the Board of Trustees, vision casting and direction for future ministry. As we seek God's will for the future ministry of One Mission Society, it is of upmost importance that we have a strong headquarters infrastructure to assist our fields and new areas of ministry in carrying out the call God has given them. The current economic condition, the need for improved building conditions, the financial shortfalls in our general fund and medical fund, staff shortages and the need for discernment in "going where we are not" all lead to a strain on the headquarters infrastructure. The answers to all of these, as well as other needs, can only come through prayer. As we considered this, a plan began to develop based on Nehemiah rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem. It is striking to note that people took responsibility for sections of the wall and each person is named specifically. They took ownership and responsibility for rebuilding and maintaining their section of the wall. With that in mind, we have developed an OMS Wall of Prayer. We are asking people to take a section of the wall, gather a prayer group together and pray specifically for OMS. We will provide specific prayer requests on a monthly basis. That way, every section of the wall will be praying in a unified way for the same requests. Will you prayerfully consider taking a section of the wall and interceding for One Mission Society as an organization and standing on the wall to watch God work through us in the days ahead?
