The Love of the Father
”New”

By Roger & Glenda Kruse

The missionary sat in a concrete room that served as a house church for about twenty new believers. He had just told them the parables of the lost coin, the lost sheep and the lost son from Luke 15 to show how much

God the Father loves all people, even those who are sinners and separated from Him. Now he was listening as the Indian trainer taught the people from a training book on evangelism.

Sitting on a mat in front of him, Rajindra was listening closely while caressing his little boy who was asleep in his lap. Previously, Rajindra had been a devout Hindu who kept all the rituals, but had no satisfaction or meaning in his life.

Another Christian shared the Gospel with him, and he believed. His father had an incurable tumor in his head, but Rajindra and others prayed for him, and now his father is well. His children also love the Lord, and Rajindra now has peace in his heart.

When Rajindra stood to tell his testimony, his little boy also stood and leaned against his father, who in turn placed his hand on his son. When Rajindra sat, his son sat and leaned back into his father’s lap. The missionary watched as the boy fell into a peaceful sleep in his daddy’s lap, while Rajindra placed his hands lovingly on his son’s chest, occasionally adjusting the boy or his clothing to make him more comfortable.

The missionary thought, “What a perfect example of God the Father’s love for us that we just heard about in the parables.” When the trainer finished teaching, the missionary asked for a few minutes to speak again. “Sometimes Christians may have doubts because they do not understand how much God loves them and is always present with them.

Today we have an illustration of God’s love for us. Look at how Rajindra and his son love each other and are always together. When Rajindra stood up, his son stood up, and when Rajindra sat down, his son sat down. They are always in contact with each other. His son leaned back and rested in Rajindra’s lap, falling asleep with complete trust that his father would care for him.

Rajindra placed his hands gently around his son’s chest, and he even buttoned his shirt when it became loose. God the Father wants the same kind of relationship with each of us, so that we can enjoy perfect peace in His loving care.” Everyone looked at Rajindra and his son, and they smiled. May all of us know our heavenly Father in that same way.
